Summer is drawing near and I don’t know about you, but I am feeling more social and more tuned in to what is around me compared to how I am in the winter. Being a keen photographer one of the only things that really makes me pay attention to nature in the winter is a thick hoarfrost or naked branches against an indigo sky after sunset. At the moment I am finding it hard to find time to browse through and delete all photos that don’t make the mark. Summer is a time for being out and about, enjoying whatever warmth there is (we are in Scotland after all!) and eating ice cream with coffee!
So I thought that for the last Saturday Eurythmy workshop before the summer break it would be quite appropriate to focus on the exercises that have been developed specifically for working with groups to aid social awareness. These exercises build up gradually in complexity and are challenging and fun at the same time. They can enable the group to tune into each other to such an extent that the exercise becomes like a moving meditation or an experience of group mindfulness. Here’s a few quotes from people who have participated in similar workshops:
“Very calming and relaxing. Felt very much like an active mediation and felt that my mind had less ‘chatter’ by the time we had finished.”
“I enjoyed the session. As it went further it became more like a dance which was becoming more coordinated with movement and people becoming more synchronized. Enjoyed a feeling of mutual co-operation.”
Eurythmy can be done by anyone regardless of experience with movement and level of fitness. All you need to bring is yourself!
