Lockdown and Covid is creating major stress in man Lockdown and Covid is creating major stress in many peoples' lives - in a world that is already going through a stress epidemic. For a lowdown on stress and some useful strategies for coping better with it, follow the link.

"It’s also important to keep in mind the individual and subjective element of stress. Whether or not something is a stressor to us depends entirely upon how we see it and the effectiveness of our strategies for dealing with potentially stressful situations. What is optimum pressure for some will potentially push others over the boundary of their resilience. This internal element depends e.g. on your level of trust in yourself, how much control you feel you have over your life, your psychological strengths and tendencies (e.g. people who have a tendency to ‘catastrophise’ will probably not be very good at dealing with potential stressors), your innate levels of resilience, as well as how your role models when you were young handled pressure and change. The good news is that it is very possible to take action and to work with these internal factors to improve how we manage stress."

Catching up with some MA in Eurythmy notes this mo Catching up with some MA in Eurythmy notes this morning. The benefit of the first block all being on zoom is that the sessions were recorded, so we can catch up on them again in our own time. Maybe a good development for the future...

Had a great New Year’s walk to Cramond Island ye Had a great New Year’s walk to Cramond Island yesterday. We didn’t have long to explore the island before the tide came back in though, got slightly wet boots on the way back, but leaping though the incoming wavelets of water was great fun! Perfect day for it! We’ve been blessed with snow and clear, cold weather this Christmas in Edinburgh.

Are you coming?
To the place
Where the sun never sets
Where the ripples on the ocean are calmed,
Smoothed,
& the waters reflect
The brightness of your eyes.

Are you coming?
To the place
Where the “I” stands forth assuredly
To follow conviction & heart.
Where all “I's” stand equally upright,
Equally firmly,
Side by side.
No pushing over
Or jumping higher;
& where my eyes reflect
The brightness of yours.

Are you coming?
To the place
Where to consume
Means to stay within needs and means;
Where unlimited growth
Is only applauded when it is inward;
Where the earth is a friend
& not your enemy's larder
To be plundered at will;
& where our eyes reflect
The beauty of all creation.

I am so looking forward to getting stuck into thes I am so looking forward to getting stuck into these two books that just arrived today! The 4 pillar plan by @drchatterjee has become one of my favourite books on well-being and I’m working my way through ‘Feel better in 5’. The books aren’t just full of great and sensible health advice, the layout is also fabulous and makes them a joy to read. Just loved the podcast with @kellymariemcgonigal and her book has been on my list for a while. I foresee many hours on the sofa - followed by lots of movement of course!.
